News » Christmas Event / Fundraiser for Miki
This year the QTC Christmas Party will take the form of a combined tournament / cocktail hour / dinner / fundraiser for Miki Nobuzawa. It will be on Saturday 17 December.
Miki is one of our most outstanding young juniors. At only 13 years old he has already competed in international tournaments in Australia and is ranked top ten in his age group in NZ. His potential to go far in tennis is enormous, due mostly to the dedication and commitment he shows to practice and training. He spends virtually every spare moment at the club training with Lan. Of course, coaching costs and travel costs money and QTC wants to provide every support we can to enable him to fulfil his potential.
Therefore, the Christmas Event will be a fundraiser for Miki. It will take the following format:-
12pm: League of Nations tournament
7pm: Cocktail hour
8pm: Christmas dinner and Secret Santa
There will be a Silent Auction running through the day as well.
The League of Nations tournament will comprise no more than 20 teams of 2 players for doubles. Each team will represent their country of origin or in the case of NZ, their region of origin. There will be 2 grades of play. Players will be encouraged to wear costume representing their country of origin, so if you're an Englishman like me for example, you could come as a Morris Dancer, or a Buckingham Palace guardsman, or maybe just a big fat pie-eating, Chelsea-supporting slob.
Each team must also bring an item for the silent auction. This could be as simple as a nice bottle of wine, or maybe your employer/business could donate something really special.
All dinner guests should bring a Secret Santa gift valued at no more than $5. These will be distributed after dinner.
Reservations for the League of Nations tournament and dinner are essential. Please text or phone Karen Mitchell on 027 660 4411 to reserve your places. Or you can register your attendance on the notice that will be placed on the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
The cost for each team of 2 players will be $120 and this includes the cocktail hour and dinner. If you are unable to participate in the League of Nations but would still like to come to the dinner, it will be $50 for an adult and $10 for a child aged 12 and under.
Remember, this is a fundraiser for Miki so your support will be greatly appreciated.
